Stone urns filled with fruits and flowers, seashell shaped fountains offer spring waters to passersby and great archways emphasize the magnificence of the growing up their facades. I find myself coming and going from the studio all day making small notes, looking at work I completed earlier, and just sitting in the space, a pencil in hand, ready to make marks that eventually manifest in the forms of flowers I’ve snipped from the garden or forms of familiar animals.

Dropping off work to the gallery was only the start of my over 2000-mile journey that ended up including outrunning a snowstorm, snuggling with my nephew, and doing some deep thinking/ planning with some of my favorite creative businesswomen. While trips like these are inevitably exhausting, they are also unbelievably invigorating.

All around this place are not just precious memories but collections of folk art, ceramics, enamelware, and copper my Mother-In-Law has amassed over the years. I often find fresh inspiration looking at the handmade rugs that look like something out of a Grimm’s fairytale covered in goats, bears, bees, acorns, and oak leaves.
